Doctoral researcher (PhD): Financial Auditing (social sciences)

The Department of Economics and Management of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance of the University of Luxembourg is looking for a PhD candidate to conduct research in financial auditing at the intersection to sociology and political sciences. The project-based research investigates the institutional, organizational and behavioral aspects of specific transformational processes in financial auditing. The research is mainly qualitative in approach and well-grounded in theory. The topic of the research to be conducted is pre-defined. However, the candidate has significant discretion to tailor the research project.

Your Role...

The research will lead to a doctoral thesis. The thesis work will be undertaken at the University of Luxembourg but can also be jointly-supervised with another university. The doctoral candidate will contribute to the teaching of classes ranging from one to three hours per week, of small group teachings and tutorials.
The doctoral researcher will benefit from being part of research group comprising two professors, several PhDs and a chief research scientist working on related topics in accounting and auditing. Being part of the project will allow the doctoral researcher to enhance his/her knowledge-base and experience; working on the various aspects of the project will not only strengthen his/her academic profile, but also give him/her access to (and the chance to critically engage with) some of the most renowned experts in the field.

Qualifications...

We are looking for a candidate with demonstrated interest in studying the interrelations between auditing, organisations and institutions. In particular, the following requirements apply
• Master Degree in social sciences, in particular in sociology, political science, economic sciences, applied economics sciences (business sciences);
• Broad theoretical knowledge;
• Have the linguistic skills to evolve in a multilingual environment: excellent command of English is a pre-request;
• Excellent communication and writing skills.
